PHL is a business providing products and services to improve the health of lower-income communities in Pakistan. We identify the core healthcare issues and needs of large segments of the targeted, less-privileged population and devise and implement practical, affordable and financially sustainable solutions to address them. Our program results are carefully and frequently monitored to identify and remedy any problems faced and continually improve Pharmagen?s efficiency and performance. PHL is constantly seeking to ensure horizontal and vertical growth towards realising its aims.
PHL has two main businesses: the Water Division and the Pharmacy Division. The mission of the Water Division is to provide access to safe, clean, affordable drinking water for the general public - particularly in low-income areas and slums.
PHL?s main activities address this mission by providing clean and affordable drinking water in densely populated urban areas and operating a chain of high quality pharmacies in rural districts. PHL has set up a network of retail 17 Water Shops in Lahore?s densely populated areas. At these shops, contaminated underground water is pumped out and purified using state of the art reverse osmosis and re-mineralization technology to meet strict World Health Organization quality standards. The water is then sold to the local community at an affordable price of Rs.1.75 per litre for walk in customers and at Rs. 2 per litre for delivery customers. The retail Water Shop model is a first for Pakistan
