The areas of responsibilities/skills for the Technical Recruiter include:
Review. Successfully review job descriptions in to understand the needs of the hiring manager as well to ask questions that’ll help you identify the right candidate(s). This is by far the most important skill a technical recruiter needs.
Understand technology, technical roles and technical skills. Learn and evaluate your technical skills
Identify. Sourcing and uncovering candidates
Screen. Ascertaining the competence of candidates against a technical job description by the client. Conducting the phone screening to evaluate if the candidate is meeting the required job criteria or not.
Schedule Interview. Scheduling the technical interview with technical team and or the client directly. Ensure & follow up with the candidate and / or client to have the candidate available at the time of interview. And getting the interview feedback after that.
Following up. Keep your candidates in the loop. Share the interview feedback. This goes a long way to build your credibility and keep your candidates either coming back to you or sending referrals to you.
Assist. Showing or offering candidate resume to hiring managers to scrutinize or consider. Assisting the team lead for day to day activities. Following the instructions of the senior & work under the guidance to meet the desired results.
To carry out these tasks the technical recruiter needs the following skills:
Technology knowledge – Ability to understand the IT field as well as the Staffing Business and to keep abreast of technology trends at client company. Candidate must be computer literate & well aware of the internet world as well as the use of various job boards like Dice, Monster, Indeed, LinkedIn , Outlook & many other database & applicant tracking systems etc.
Communication – The ability to have excellent communication (Verbal & Written) is mandatory for this job role. Candidate must be fluent in spoken English to communicate with candidates, clients & others.
Serious Attitude – Recruiter must behave professionally at work by the serious attitude to learn about the staffing business, meeting their deadlines in filling the position. Candidate must be able to take the work pressure & take the responsibility of the assigned tasks. Candidate must be able to work in the USA timings from home with proper setup.
Inquisitiveness – Being able to ask questions of your sales/account managers (agency recruiters), clients (hiring managers) and your candidates. Candidate must be willing to learn the staffing business & put on his/her efforts in the growth of the company’s business. Candidate should be self-starter & self-confident.
Relationship Building – Start every conversation with the intent to build, develop and maintain relationships with your candidates as well as clients.
