LHRLA established Pakistan’s first Helpline for Children and Women suffering from Violence, Abuse and Exploitation in 2001 with the support of UNICEF and SDC in Sindh. Madadgaar is Pakistan’s first Helpline for children, youth & women suffering from violence, abuse and exploitation. The name Madadgaar was selected by children, which means The Helper.
The GPP is a five year programme funded by the Dutch Government. It was developed by six civil society organizations in Netherlands including ICDI, Women Win, Child Helpline International, Free Voice, DCI-ECPAT and Plan-
Netherlands. These organizations work together in the Child Rights Alliance (CRA), led by Plan Netherland.
The programme aims at building the capacity of civil society in 10 developing countries including
Pakistan to support empowerment of girls and young women for gender equality. The programme focuses
on reducing violence against girls and young women, their post primary education, economic participation and socio political participation.
