The Fred Hollows Foundation is a not-for-profit, community-based, non-government development aid organization. Since 1998, The Fred Hollows Foundation has worked with local partners in more than 30 countries to eradicate avoidable blindness in developing countries and to improve the health outcomes of Indigenous Australians.
The Foundation has supported blindness treatment and prevention activities in Pakistan since 1997 and has made significant contributions to the development of Pakistan’s eye health sector. The Foundation has worked in partnership with the Government of Pakistan through their community ophthalmology institutes and tertiary & secondary eye units in all four Provinces of the country.
The comprehensive approach of the Pakistan Program covers all levels of public eye health services in Pakistan, providing support to eye units and eye health personnel at the provincial, district and rural levels. Other areas of work include training mid level eye care personnel, holding eye camps in various far flung areas, setting up services for childhood blindness and diabetes related eye health services.
