Responsibilities:
The Web Designer is responsible for the look and feel of web pages, web applications, and their component parts, e.g. buttons on a public website. S/he develops design concepts and implements designs for new web pages, WCMS templates, newsletters, games, ads, kingpins, banners, illustrations, logos, and other types of digital content that will be presented online. S/he selects and uses digital photos appropriately. S/he is able to take an approved concept and build it in HTML/CSS so it complies with responsive design principles. S/he also understands and is able to use fundamental web publishing technologies such as JavaScript and JQuery.
Qualifications:
Three to five years of web design experience working on a public website for a private or public organization
- Highly proficient with Adobe Creative suite, HTML editors, and other web publishing tools
- In depth knowledge of and experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery
- Experience developing graphics, illustrations, other creative materials for websites
- Experience creating and managing responsive designs and WCMS templates
- Understanding of the principles of good web user experience (UX)
- Strong understanding of Section 508 coding, testing and compliance.
- Experience creating and building to technical designs and specifications
- Strong team player with very good communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Education and training in design principles
- Experience working with mobile interfaces would be a plus
