Job Description

The Role

The Technical Director Nutrition and Food Fortification (TDN&FF) is responsible for providing overall, high-level leadership to the design and implementation of key technical components for the national food fortification programme in Pakistan. This post will be the foremost technical leader for the programme and will be the lead for all nutrition and food fortification technical components. The role will also include inputs on advocacy, public and private sector quality control and assurance for food fortification and food safety. In addition to this the TDN&FF will also fulfil the role of Deputy Team Leader on the programme, and as such will support the Team Leader in ensuring the effective implementation of the programme and achievement of the programme objectives and milestones including taking on a backstopping role as required during the Team Leader’s absence.

Job Specification

Essential Criteria·
Relevant post-graduate technical degree , PhD is preferred · A minimum of 15 years’ experience in public health / nutrition / fortification · At least 5 years spent working specifically on food fortification is essential. Experience fortifying wheat flour and oil/ghee is a distinct advantage · Proven technical leadership and demonstrable ability as a strong manager and leader of people and teams · Previous successful senior management experience - with a large DFID health/nutrition/private sector programme - is an added advantage · Experience of developing and implementing under-nutrition strategies and planning initiatives for food fortification interventions · Experience of working effectively with the Pakistan government, ideally, and regulatory bodies for food security and quality control · Experience of working in a challenging / security risk environment, including across Pakistan The project inception phase is anticipated to begin in June/July 2015.
