Job Description
As a Fashion Designer conceptualizes and creates designs for Leather/Textile safety apparel, bags, and gloves, ensuring innovation, functionality, and market relevance.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Market Research and Trend Analysis
Study current fashion trends, seasonal colors, patterns, and styles popular in the U.S. market.
Conduct competitor analysis to understand offerings, pricing, and customer preferences.
Collaborate with the Trend Analyst (if available) to integrate insights into design planning.
2. Design Conceptualization
Develop mood boards and design themes for each collection or season.
Sketch initial designs manually or using design software like Adobe Illustrator or CorelDRAW.
Create storylines for collections that reflect the brand's identity and target audience.
3. Material and Resource Selection
Work with the Material Specialist to select high-quality leather and complementary fabrics suitable for the designs.
Ensure materials meet both aesthetic and functional requirements (e.g., durability, softness).
Propose sustainable material options for eco-friendly collections.
4. Pattern Development and Prototyping
Collaborate with Pattern Masters to create precise patterns for the designs.
Review and provide feedback on initial patterns and prototypes for accuracy and alignment with the vision.
Oversee fitting sessions and make necessary adjustments to the designs.
5. Collaboration and Coordination
Work closely with the Design Team to ensure cohesion across all product lines.
Coordinate with the Sampling In-charge to manage timelines and quality during prototype development.
Communicate with the Marketing Team to align designs with promotional strategies and customer expectations.
6. Quality Control
Inspect samples and finished products for quality, design fidelity, and functionality.
Address any issues in design or production that compromise quality.
Set and enforce design standards for all fashion products.
7. Presentation and Feedback
Present final designs and prototypes to stakeholders (e.g., R&D Manager, Marketing Team) for approval.
Incorporate feedback to refine designs and enhance market appeal.
8. Design Documentation
Maintain a portfolio of all designs, including sketches, digital files, and prototype details.
Create detailed technical packs (Tech Packs) for manufacturers, including specifications, measurements, and material details.
9. Innovation and Continuous Improvement
Experiment with new techniques, embellishments, and finishes for leather products.
Stay updated with advancements in fashion technology, such as 3D printing and wearable tech.
Propose innovative design concepts to differentiate the brand in the market.
10. Time and Cost Management
Plan and prioritize tasks to meet project deadlines.
Ensure designs align with budget constraints while maintaining quality and appeal.
11. Sustainability Initiatives
Collaborate on projects to repurpose fabric or leather waste into new products.
Contribute to achieving the company’s sustainability goals, such as reducing material waste or incorporating recycled materials.
12. Industry Networking
Attend fashion shows, expos, and industry events to gather inspiration and build connections.
Engage with fashion influencers and consultants to gain insights into evolving market needs.
