Job Description

Coil Winding: Manually wind coils for electric motors, transformers, or other electrical equipment according to blueprints or technical specifications.

Material Handling: Select and prepare materials, such as copper wire or other conductive materials, and load them onto the winding machines.

Setup and Adjustment: Set up winding machines, adjusting settings such as speed, tension, and wire gauge to ensure the coils are wound precisely and to the correct specifications.

Monitor the Winding Process: Watch for issues such as uneven winding, tangling, or other defects during the winding process and make adjustments as needed.

Inspect Coils: Inspect finished coils for defects, ensuring they meet required electrical and mechanical standards.

Assembly: Once winding is complete, assist in assembling the coils into the motor or other equipment, ensuring proper placement and connection of the windings.

Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on winding tools and equipment, including cleaning, lubricating, and replacing parts as needed.

Troubleshooting: Diagnose and fix any issues that arise during the winding process, including machine malfunctions or winding errors.

Quality Control: Ensure that each coil meets the necessary quality and performance standards for the electrical products being produced or repaired.

Documentation: Keep accurate records of the winding process, including wire types, sizes, and quantities used, as well as any issues encountered during production.

Safety Compliance: Follow all safety procedures to protect yourself and others, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to workplace safety guidelines.

Job Specification

Experience: Previous experience in motor winding, coil winding, or working in electrical manufacturing is preferred, but training is often provided for candidates with a technical aptitude.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Technical or vocational training in electrical engineering or a related field is a plus.

Knowledge of electric motors, transformers, and other electrical components.

Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints for coil winding specifications.

Understanding of different wire gauges, insulation types, and winding patterns.

Proficiency in operating winding equipment, even if manual or semi-automatic.

Attention to detail and ability to follow complex instructions to ensure high-quality work.

Strong mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot and maintain winding equipment.

Ability to work independently and efficiently in a production environment.

Ability to stand for long periods and work with both hands in a manual, repetitive setting.

Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for precise winding tasks.

Ability to lift and move heavy materials, including coils or spools of wire, as needed.

Vision requirements to distinguish fine details when working with wire and coils.

Typically works in a manufacturing or repair shop environment.

Exposure to noise, machinery, and occasionally hazardous materials (depending on the industry).

Work can be physically demanding, involving repetitive tasks and the handling of heavy equipment or wire spools.

May involve working with fine, intricate materials and tools for precise coil winding.
