Job Description

Position Overview:

The Takeoff and Drafting Specialist plays a key role in supporting the estimating and project management teams by producing accurate quantity takeoffs and construction drawings. This position requires a strong attention to detail, proficiency in reading blueprints, and experience with CAD software. The ideal candidate will help streamline the pre-construction phase by preparing detailed material and labor estimates and assisting with technical drawings when needed.

Key Responsibilities:

Review architectural and engineering drawings to perform material and quantity takeoffs for bidding and procurement.
Prepare accurate and detailed construction estimates using digital takeoff tools.
Develop and update CAD drawings and layouts to support project design and coordination.
Collaborate with estimators, project managers, and field staff to ensure alignment of drawings and takeoffs with scope and budget.
Conduct market research to obtain pricing directly from suppliers or manufacturers.
Maintain organized project documentation, including drawings, revisions, and estimates.
Contribute to the preparation of bid packages and proposals.
Ensure compliance with building codes, standards, and project specifications and preparation of sketches for the projects for permits
Participate in project meetings as required to review and explain takeoff details.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, drafting, or a related field preferred
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in construction estimating, drafting, or a similar role.
Proficiency with digital takeoff software (e.g., Planswift, Bluebeam, OST) and CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit).
Strong understanding of construction documents, drawings, and specifications.
Excellent math, measurement, and analytical skills.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong organizational and communication skills.

Working Conditions:

Work remotely
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and work with computers and drawing equipment.

Requirements & Skills

Preferred Skills:

Experience with BIM tools or 3D modeling is a plus.
Experience in Bluebeam tools for the design of light residential projects
Knowledge of industry standards and CSI divisions.
Familiarity with commercial, residential, or civil construction (based on company focus).
