Requirements & Skills
Accounting Principles: A strong working knowledge of accounting principles (such as GAAP or IFRS) and procedures is essential for accurate financial recording and reporting.
Financial Reporting: The ability to prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements (P&L), and cash flow statements, is a primary duty.
Reconciliation: Proficiency in reconciling various accounts, including bank statements, general ledger accounts, accounts payable/receivable, and inventory records, to identify and resolve discrepancies.
Auditing and Compliance: Skills in internal control procedures, preparing for internal and external audits, and ensuring compliance with relevant tax laws and financial regulations (e.g., sales tax, VAT, payroll tax).
Budgeting and Forecasting: Experience in collaborating on budgets, monitoring performance against forecasts, and conducting variance analysis to provide insight to management.
