What you'll be doing

LEEP is seeking a dynamic Industry Consultant to lead our engagement with paint manufacturers, suppliers, and industry associations across Pakistan. You will work to accelerate the transition to lead-free paint production through strategic partnerships, technical assistance, and market development initiatives. This is our second industry consultant position in Pakistan, working alongside our existing consultant to support expanded industry engagement efforts.

This role offers the opportunity to work directly with industry leaders to drive meaningful change in paint manufacturing practices while supporting Pakistan's broader public health goals.

Responsibilities

  • Industry Engagement & Technical Support
  1. Establish relationships with paint manufacturers, particularly small and informal manufacturers
  2. Persuade and support paint manufacturers to remove lead from their paint through meetings, calls, and written communications
  3. Work in collaboration with our reformulation expert to assist industry to phase out lead paint
  4. Seek alternative ingredients suppliers to assist industry with phaseout
  • Organise and present at industry workshops
  1. Government Advocacy & Support
  2. Conduct background research and planning to strategically engage with stakeholders
  3. Prepare materials for government meetings and meet with government representatives
  4. Support written communications with government representatives
  5. Attend industry-government meetings
  • Research & Reporting
  1. Contribute to research activities and paint studies by generating data
  2. Monitor progress on lead-free reformulation across manufacturers
  3. Prepare industry reports and contribute to donor communications

  • Strong understanding of Pakistan's paint and chemicals industry landscape
  • Established network within manufacturing, trade associations, or business communities
  • Experience in technical consulting, quality improvement, or supply chain management

  • Strong business acumen and understanding of manufacturing economics
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences

Other promising attributes:

  • 3+ years of experience in industry relations, business development, or manufacturing sector
  • Background in chemical engineering, chemistry, or materials science
  • Experience in paint, coatings, or related chemical industries
  • Knowledge of international quality standards and regulatory frameworks
  • Previous work with manufacturers on product reformulation or compliance
  • Experience organizing industry events or capacity-building programs
  • Understanding of supply chain dynamics in Pakistan's manufacturing sector
