What you'll be doing

A.R. Nutrition Food is a Karachi-based nonprofit focused on improving mental health through nutrition-centered care. We deliver evidence-informed dietary interventions alongside psychosocial support to strengthen emotional well-being in underserved communities. The Product Designer will join a small multidisciplinary team to lead design of client-facing digital tools, program materials, and community outreach assets that make nutrition and mental health guidance accessible, culturally relevant, and easy to use.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Lead user research and needs assessment with program participants, counselors, and field staff in Karachi to define product requirements.
  • Create user journeys, wireframes, and high-fidelity prototypes for mobile and web interfaces used by beneficiaries and staff.
  • Design clear, culturally appropriate visual assets for therapeutic meal programs, counseling referrals, and community kitchen materials.
  • Work with program managers and developers to iterate on prototypes, perform usability testing, and incorporate stakeholder feedback.
  • Establish and maintain a design system, including UI components, typography, and accessibility guidelines for low-literacy audiences.
  • Ensure designs meet technical constraints and support monitoring and evaluation needs, producing assets ready for handoff to developers and print vendors.
  • Support training sessions for staff on using design deliverables and gathering ongoing user feedback.

  • Visual design competence: layout, typography, iconography, and color systems tailored to diverse, low-literacy audiences.
  • Ability to create and maintain a reusable design system and component library for cross-channel use (web, mobile, print).
  • Usability testing and iterative design: plan tests, moderate sessions, analyze results, and translate findings into actionable changes.
  • Experience designing for accessibility and responsive interfaces, including considerations for low-bandwidth and low-end devices.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills for working with program staff, developers, and external vendors; ability to document design rationale and hand off assets cleanly.
