Key responsibilities:
- Prepare and dispense medications accurately according to prescriptions and clinic protocols.
- Verify prescription details and consult with prescribing clinicians to resolve discrepancies.
- Maintain inventory including stock rotation, expiry checks, ordering assistance, and recordkeeping for controlled and non-controlled drugs.
- Provide patient counseling on medication usage, dosage, side effects, and storage.
- Ensure compliance with clinic policies, safety standards, and infection prevention during dispensing procedures.
- Document and report medication errors, adverse reactions, and stock variances to clinic management.
- Collaborate with nurses, health technicians, and the medical team to support patient care.
What we’re looking for
- Experience dispensing medicines in a clinical or pharmacy setting with accurate dosage calculations and labeling.
- Knowledge of common medications, generic/brand names, storage requirements, and expiry management.
- Familiarity with inventory systems and stock control procedures; ability to maintain accurate logs.
- Strong communication skills for clear patient counseling and coordination with clinicians and nursing staff.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow prescription instructions and recognize potential drug interactions or contraindications.
- Basic recordkeeping skills and comfort with simple computer entry or paper-based medical records.
- Understanding of infection prevention, safe handling of pharmaceuticals, and disposal of pharmaceutical waste.
- Professionalism, punctuality, and ability to work within a small multidisciplinary clinic team.
