Seeking retired Pakistan Customs officers (BS-16 and above) to join the compliance and customs advisory team to provide subject-matter expertise for import/export clearance, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation across trading and manufacturing operations.
Key responsibilities
- Provide expert guidance on customs regulations, tariff classification, valuation, and documentation for inbound and outbound shipments.
- Manage clearance processes with port authorities, customs brokers, and carriers to minimize delays and demurrage costs.
- Review and approve import/export documentation, bills of entry, certificates of origin, and related permits to ensure regulatory accuracy.
- Conduct internal audits and compliance checks to identify exposure to duties, penalties, or non-compliance and recommend corrective actions.
- Liaise with government agencies and industry stakeholders to resolve technical or procedural issues and represent the company during inspections or hearings.
- Train and mentor staff and develop SOPs for customs clearance and compliance.
What we’re looking for
Must-have
- Deep knowledge of Pakistan Customs Act, SROs, tariff schedules, and HS code classification.
- Experience preparing and reviewing bills of entry, shipping documents, certificates of origin, and bonded store procedures.
- Practical familiarity with port operations, container handling, demurrage calculations, and terminal processes.
- Strong liaison skills with customs authorities, port officials, and regulatory bodies.
- Ability to interpret circulars and notifications and implement procedural changes across operations.
- Proven track record in customs audits, dispute resolution, and mitigation of penalties.
- Competence in training staff and developing SOPs for customs clearance and compliance.
- Attention to detail, analytical mindset, and ability to prioritize high-risk consignments.
