Key responsibilities
- Prepare and cook cafe-style items (coffees, shakes, fast-food) following standardized recipes and presentation guidelines.
- Set up workstations, stock ingredients, manage mise en place, and ensure smooth handover between shifts.
- Follow HACCP and local food safety practices; maintain clean cooking areas, utensils, and equipment.
- Monitor food freshness, check temperatures, taste and adjust seasoning to meet quality standards.
- Coordinate with servers to prioritize orders, manage ticket times, and reduce waste during peak periods.
- Assist supervisor with inventory support and communicate shortages.
- Assist in training junior team members and collaborate with front-of-house staff.
What we’re looking for
- Proven experience cooking in a cafe, fast-food, or small restaurant kitchen with similar menu items (coffees, shakes, quick-serve food).
- Strong knife skills; ability to prepare ingredients quickly and accurately.
- Knowledge of cooking methods: grilling, frying, sautéing, and basic baking for cafe-style items.
- Understanding of food safety, temperature control, and sanitation standards (HACCP).
- Speed and time management to handle multiple orders during peak periods while maintaining quality.
- Ability to follow standardized recipes and maintain consistent portioning and plating.
- Basic inventory awareness and ability to communicate shortages to management.
- Teamwork and communication with front-of-house staff; willingness to assist in training junior team members.
