What you’ll be doing
Hayat Ali & Co is seeking a detail-oriented Accountant to join the finance team and support project accounting, compliance, and financial reporting for multiple contracts.
Responsibilities:

- Maintain accurate general ledger entries and ensure timely month-end close for corporate and project accounts.
- Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, variance reports, and project cost reports for management review.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable workflows, including invoice verification, payment scheduling, and collection follow-ups.
- Reconcile bank statements, project advances, retention accounts, and intercompany balances.
- Support budgeting and forecasting for ongoing projects and assist project managers with cost tracking and job cost analysis.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations and prepare VAT/GST and withholding tax filings; coordinate with external auditors.
- Maintain fixed assets schedules, depreciation calculations, and capital expenditure accounting for projects.
What we’re looking for
- Must-have: Professional proficiency in accounting principles (IFRS/local GAAP) and project cost accounting.
- Software/Tools: Hands-on experience with accounting software/ERP (QuickBooks, Tally, SAP Business One or similar).
- Excel: Strong Excel skills including VLOOKUP, pivot tables, formulas, and data reconciliation techniques.
- Tax/Compliance: Experience preparing VAT/GST and withholding tax computations; familiarity with Pakistan tax compliance.
- Financial Reporting: Ability to prepare and interpret financial statements, management reports, and job cost reports.
- Fixed Assets: Knowledge of fixed assets management, depreciation schedules, and capital expenditure accounting.
- Other: Attention to detail, ledger reconciliations, analytical capability for variance analysis, good communication, time management, and ability to meet month-end/statutory deadlines.
- Preferred: Prior experience in construction or infrastructure project accounting; CA/ACCA part-qualified or equivalent.
