What you’ll be doing

Kiran Foundation, a Karachi-based non-profit focused on education management, is seeking a Financial Controller to lead and strengthen its finance function. The Financial Controller will ensure accurate financial reporting, compliance with statutory and donor requirements, and provide strategic insight to support program delivery and organizational growth. This role reports to senior leadership and works closely with program managers, auditors, and external stakeholders.

Principal responsibilities:

  • Manage the full accounting cycle and oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statement preparation and consolidation.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning to ensure funds are allocated to programs effectively and reserves are maintained.
  • Implement and maintain internal financial controls, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with statutory, donor and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate and support internal and external audits, prepare audit schedules and respond to auditor queries.
  • Monitor grant and project finances, ensure correct accounting of restricted funds and timely donor reporting.
  • Prepare management reports and financial analyses to inform leadership decisions.

What we’re looking for

Must-have:

  • Minimum 5 years progressive accounting/finance experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or controller role.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
  • Solid knowledge of accounting standards, statutory regulations and tax compliance in Pakistan.
  • Proven experience preparing monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and management reports.
  • Strong budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management skills; experience in grant/project accounting.
  • Experience with internal controls, audit coordination and donor reporting requirements.
  • Proficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Tally, SAP, or similar) and advanced Excel skills including financial modeling.
  • People management: supervising, training and reviewing finance staff.


Preferred:

  • ACCA/CA or MBA in Finance.
  • Non-profit or donor-funded organization experience.
