Overview:
Utopia Industries, a plastics manufacturer, is seeking a skilled Mechanical Fitter to perform installation, assembly, repair, and preventive maintenance of production machinery and plant equipment to ensure reliable operations and minimize downtime.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on mechanical systems, conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, hydraulic and pneumatic components.
- Troubleshoot mechanical faults, diagnose root causes, and perform corrective repairs.
- Assemble, fit and align shafts, bearings, couplings, and other rotating equipment; perform precision measurements and adjustments.
- Remove and replace worn parts, fabricate simple components and assist the fabrication shop when required.
- Follow lockout/tagout and plant safety procedures; maintain clean, organized work areas and report hazards.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, log work orders and communicate status updates to supervisors.
What we’re looking for
Must-have:
- Minimum 3 years practical experience in manufacturing maintenance (extrusion, injection molding or similar preferred).
- Proven experience fitting, assembling and maintaining industrial machinery in a manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on skills with bearings, shafts, couplings, gearboxes, belts, chains, hydraulics and pneumatics.
- Mechanical measuring skills: micrometers, vernier calipers, dial indicators and alignment tools.
- Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting ability.
- Basic welding, cutting and light fabrication skills.
- Familiarity with preventive maintenance practices and reading mechanical drawings.
- Ability to follow lockout/tagout procedures and plant safety requirements; good physical stamina.
- Clear communication to coordinate with production, engineering and stores.
