Job Description

As a Content Designer you will be responsible for designing content both informational and to support existing services), mainly on our official website. You will work with user researchers, designers, subject experts, business analysts and policy/legal teams to produce outstanding digital services and information.

The material you develop will cover a wide range of topics and users, so you need to be user-focused and know how to design first and foremost for the customer. You’ll also act as a constant source of expertise and knowledge for team members and colleagues across organization.

Content design is a critical role within digital team as the content we provide needs to be high quality and encourage people to use our digital services as their preferred way of exchanging information the organization. We need excellent content designers who understand digital, language, technology and people.

As a Content Designer you will:

  • Design high quality informational content and digital services on website with the needs of users as the primary focus
  • Research topics to identify user needs and understand policies and processes
  • Take complex language and processes and make them simple to understand and act on, whilst maintaining factual accuracy
  • Create content that’s accessible and usable and written to formal style and standards
  • Work with user researchers to test user understanding of content and journeys to and from it
  • Use feedback and metrics to refine content
  • Work quickly to design or change content in light of external factors such as changes to policy, legislation, technology or user needs
  • Build relationships and work effectively within an agile delivery model with colleagues and external providers, for example user researchers and subject experts.
  • Communicate credibly with a wide range of digital delivery disciplines and talent both internally and externally.

Job Specification

Essential Skills:

  • Experience of designing digital content, with proven ability of creating content that’s easy to understand and accessible.
  • Experience of user-centered design starting with user needs.
  • Experience in choosing the best format for displaying information to the user
  • Experience in using metrics and user feedback to define/refine content
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Desired Skills:

  • Experience of working within a digital environment
  • Experience of working with content management and publishing systems
  • Experience of writing to government style and standards.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree from a reputable HEC recognized university in the field of Computer Sciences, Information Technology or Business
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in a similar position
