Job Description
i. Responsible for the safe and efficient operations of the plant during his shift.
ii. Coordinate with the Operations Manager, Plant Engineer (Operation) and other departments of this plant.
iii. Operates the generating units in manual as well as automatic modes. Starts and stops generators and connects and disconnects them fro circuits
iv. Monitors equipment that regulate the flow of electricity from the power plant.
v. Operate and monitors equipment in substation.
vi. Keep the higher management informed of any unusual incident.
vii. Create generation reports.
viii. Make periodic rounds of power plant observing conditions, notes abnormal conditions and takes corrective actions.
ix. Corresponds with NPCC and RCC on power needs.
x. Liaison with the fuel supply companies and other agencies
xi. Anticipates changes in power needs and analyses data or information
xii. Trains and supervises the work of subordinate staff.
xiii. Writes daily log for operational activities.
xiv. Check daily logs to determine proper operation of the equipment.
xv. Handles emergencies by effective coordination, team work and prudent decisions.
xvi. Complies with all EHS policies and procedures as developed and implemented at site in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
xvii. Any other duty assigned by the Operations Manager / Plant Engineer (Operations).
xviii. Understand OH&S risks / hazards and environmental / legislative aspects / impacts to related to work activities.
Job Specification
To perform this position successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Three years associate engineering diploma or equivalent or three years experience in similar capacity.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively to employees of the organization.
