Job Description

onewood is looking for an experienced VoIP/SIP engineer as part of expansion of our business operations. The role emphasizes customer support. The 2nd Line engineer troubleshoots performance and operational issues of products deployed at customers sites or located in our own data center and also investigates issues in the networking between them making technical assessments to get to problem resolution.


  • VoIP network design.
  • Internet Telephony services implementation, integration and testing.
  • SIP-based servers configuration and maintenance.
  • Single point of contact with our VoIP partners, PSTN carriers and outsource service developers.
  • Prioritize incoming issues and resolve time-critical situations reliably & professionally.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues using analytical methods to identify root cause. Problem analysis and data gathering including packet trace in support of escalated issues.
  • Manage customer escalations and be an active member of the Service Continuity team.
  • Problem reporting, escalation, replication, and resolution management.
  • Document trouble tickets; write technical notes and knowledge base entries.

Job Specification

  • Strong telephone communication skills.
  • Excellent verbal/written English skills.
  • A working understanding of Voice of IP implementations.
  • A good understanding of SIP protocols (RFC 3261) and SIP transactions.
  • A knowledge of basic SQL database functions and query construction.
  • Basic Linux command line skills.
  • Hands-on experience of implementation and support of routers, switches, firewalls.
  • Highly motivated and keen to learn new technical skills.
  • Ability to work alone or as part of a small, dedicated team.



  • 5+ years of experience in IP routing and Network design.
  • 2+ year Experience of VoIP technologies and SIP related protocols and implementations.
  • Knowledge and experience in configuration of major open source VoIP applications, such as Iptel SER and Asterisk soft-pbx.
  • Knowledge of SQL server and MySQL databases administration.
  • Knowledge of multiple operating systems administration, including - UNIX/Linux & Microsoft Windows Servers
  • Languages: English (fluent in oral and written)


  • Knowledge of Asterisk.
  • Experience of supporting internet connectivity (such as ADSL).
  • Further networking experience (routing, switching, security, VPN, IPT, Unified Communications).
  • Process management flair.
  • Ability to deliver concise technical documentation.
  • LAMP experience.
  • Cisco certified engineer.
  • Any certified knowledge on VoIP & Internet telephony technologies.
