Society of Facilitators and Trainers (SOFT) is an Islamabad based National Organization working across Pakistan. Its mission is to promote, support and advance the art and practice of professional facilitation through methods exchange, professional growth, practical research, collegial networking and support services. This is accomplished through peer-to-peer networking, professional development and annual conferences, which are critical means for fulfilling the mission and reflecting our core values. The SOFT encourages and supports the formation of local groups of facilitators to network and provide professional development opportunities for their members. Regional groups from around the country are invited to become affiliated with the SOFT to help promote the profession of facilitation as a critical set of skills in the global society of the 21st century.
SOFT organization has an experience hand on women empowerment projects and has been implemented several projects of Food security through Farmer Field Schools approach in Pakistan. SOFT & FAO Pakistan upcoming projects, we are looking for one Social Mobilizer for the project of 'Women Empowerment through Agro-based Products Initiate' on the following Districts.
Job Specification
Key Responsibilities Include:
Under the overall supervision of the Project Coordinator, Women Empowerment through Agro-based Products Initiate. The Social Mobilizers will be responsible to perform the following tasks and duties, but limited, for the project-funded period.
Identify potential area for establishment of Farmer Field Schools and select the Trainees/participants for FFSs in the above Districts.
Organization & formation of women FFS in the Target Districts.
Provide technical assistance and training on FFS in Kitchen Gardening & Tunnel Farming)
Prepare guidelines for the selection of beneficiaries/participants/trainees for FFS and liaison, coordinate with EDO Agricultural Department and Local women Organization of the District.
Preparing the curricula for use by Farmer Field Schools in Kitchen Gardening & Tunnel Farming.
Prepare education materials for use by farmer field schools in Kitchen Gardening & Tunnel Farming.
Capacity building of interest group of women on cultivation of kitchen gardening & off-season vegetables in tunnel farms.
Capacity building of FFS women on cultural practices (layout, seed bed preparation, nurseries raising, transplantation, irrigation, fertilizers application & weed management) of vegetables & establishment of tunnels and its management.
To capacitate the interest group of FFS on rising of vegetables nurseries in the established tunnels.
Capacity building of interest groups women of FFS on Diseases, weeds, and pest management practices.
Capacity building of interest group of women regarding marketing of produce (vegetables) and development of linkages in the market for profitable marketing of their produce.
Assist the Project Coordinator in the day-to-day monitoring of FFS interventions and completion of monthly project monitoring sheets.
Ensure the submission of FFS monthly, quarterly, annual and final progress reports to the Project Coordinator.
Perform any other associated duties as required by the Project Coordinator.
Ensure pre & post training evaluation of Farmer Field Schools trainees/participants.
Experience and Skills:
Degree of M.Sc (Hons) Horticulture
4 + Relevant Tunnel Farming & Kitchen Gardening training Experiences
Social Mobilization process & Community organization skills
Training of Trainers (TOTs) Skills
Training needs Assessment (TNA) Skills
Proficient in MS-words, Inpage, MS-office applications especially Excel.
Good interpersonal & communication skills.
Drafting and report writing skills
Analytical, communication and presentation skills
Good networking and advocacy skills
Ability of working in a multi-cultural and multi-ethnic environment
Able to travel to project sites for implementation of the project.
