Job Description
A retail salesperson has the job of assessing the needs of the consumer and providing the latter with a suitable product. For instance, a salesperson working at a home store is required to have good taste and a friendly disposition, since the same will enable the salesperson to fulfill the requirements of the job. A salesperson is also required to have good knowledge about the available products in the store, so that better alternatives may be suggested to the seemingly dissatisfied consumer.
Job Specification
- gathering market and customer information;
- negotiating variations in price, delivery and specifications with managers
- advising on forthcoming product developments and discussing special promotions
- liaising with suppliers to check on the progress of existing orders;
- checking quantities of goods on display in the showroom
- recording sales and order information and sending copies to the Manager in the end of the day
- reviewing own sales performance, aiming to meet or exceed targets
- gaining a clear understanding of customers and requirements
- making accurate, rapid cost calculations, and providing customers with quotations
- Maintaining and developing relationships with existing customers
