Job Description 1. JOB DETAILS: Position Title:Lead Engineer, Process Reports to:Superintendent, Plant Support Department:Technical Services, Yanbu Function:Technical Job Code: Prepared / Revised on:March 2009 2. JOB PURPOSE: To support the Superintendent, Plant Support (PS) in order to ensure that the utility plant processes are operating optimally for efficient utilization of resources, within the OEM operational guidelines and are compliant the applicable environmental regulations & product quality specifications. 3. JOB DIMENSIONS: Number of Staff Supervised:Direct Reports:4 Total:4 4. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: DescriptionPerformance Indicators Process Analysis & Monitoring: Analyse all processes parameters, trace and troubleshoot process problems to ensure maximum effectiveness, productivity, quality & reliability and recommend modifications. Monitor the plant processes to ensure that these are running in optimum conditions at all the time.Reports on compliance to design & quality specifications. Timely completion of Process related TSRs. Process Modifications: Recommend / Analyse any proposed changes in any process to ensure positive impact on cost and efficiency of all processes.Efficiency of processes. Cost reduction Environment: Monitor the Environmental aspects in the processes to maintain the regulatory limits.Actions on Environmental non-compliances. Technological Improvements: Investigate new technologies to improve efficiency, productivity, quality & reliability of all processes and recommend modifications.Efficiency of process Cost reduction 4. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (continued): DescriptionPerformance Indicators Laboratory Measures: Monitor the critical operational parameters and recommend Corrective & Preventive actions. Actions taken on operational parameter deviations. Recruitment & Motivation: Participate in the recruitment, train, develop and motivate staff in the Process section to ensure that staffing is at the required levels and calibre and that performance is monitored, managed and improved.Turnover of staff Policies & Procedures: Recommend improvements to departmental policy and direct the implementation of procedures and controls covering all areas of Process activity so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service to customers.Compliance with procedural and legislative requirements. Effective communication of policies and procedures. Quality, Safety, Health & Environment: - Ensure compliance to all relevant Quality, Safety, Health & Environment management procedures and controls across the Process section to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high quality products/service and a responsible environmental attitude.Number of CAR received. Number of Safety Non Compliance received. Leadership: Ensure the effective achievement of Technical Services departmental objectives through the leadership of the Process section setting individual objectives, managing performance, developing and motivating staff, provision of formal and informal feedback and appraisal in order to maximise subordinate and the performance of the section.Meet Departmental KPI for Process activities Cost Control: Monitor the financial performance of the Process section against budgets so that areas of unsatisfactory performance are identified and rectified promptly and potential performance improvement opportunities are capitalised upon.Financial variance versus budget. 5. JOB CONTEXT: The jobholder is responsible to prepare action plans for the process section in order to fulfil the job purpose. The jobholder also has primary responsibility to coordinate with Operation and Maintenance staff to solve the process bottlenecks, to analyze plant incidents and to determine the root cause of the operational problems. The jobholder is also required to support operation, maintenance as well as engineering personnel with the process related details in order to effect modifications and changes. 6. COMMUNICATIONS & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: Internal: Ongoing communication with subordinates within the Technical Services and Design & Projects. Communication with the Superintendent PS / Manager TSD regarding plant process related feedback. Regular communication with other Departments mainly Operations, Maintenance and Safety. External: As per requirements 7. FRAMEWORKS, BOUNDARIES, & DECISION MAKING AUTHORITY: The job is directly accountable to the Superintendent, Plant Support for the achievement of key results. The job is subject to functional objectives and receives general guidance from the Superintendent, Plant Support. The job has considerable freedom to plan and organise work within agreed processes plans and budgets.

8. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS: Minimum Qualifications: University degree in a Chemical/Mechanical/Electrical engineering-related discipline. Minimum Experience: 6-8 years operational, maintenance or plant/ process engineering experience in a heavy industrial or utilities environment. Experience of process engineering within the utility sector. Experience of managing a team of qualified professional Process Engineers. Experience of working with business management systems such as SAP. Considerable project management experience, including extensive liaison with external contractors. Job-Specific Skills: Expert knowledge of specific process engineering disciplines such as power generation, electrical distribution desalination and all relevant water treatment processes. Detailed and expert knowledge of the Marafiq plant processes. Extensive knowledge of process engineering design principles. Sound understanding of process engineering risk management philosophy and techniques. Sound understanding of process engineering QA/QC philosophy and techniques.
