You majored in marketing and are bombarded with vacancies offering high salary and prestigious name that will dazzle your resume. But you will be given little or no responsibility and will rarely get a chance to improve your talent.
Learning is a Continuous Process: You may have internships and extraordinary skills but keep this statement at the heart of everything learning is a lifelong process. We are living in a world highly evolving, there are developments happening around us it. Therefore stay abreast with all that is new and upcoming. Staying relevant is an important thing in today’s business word. If you get an opportunity to land a job that helps you stay relevant in terms of knowledge and skills, opt for it.
The mundane step: You wanted to land a job that will look good on your resume. You may have exaggerated your skill set to get hired, thinking you can put in the hours to learn what is needed and will make it work. Remember to stay realistic. Although a challenge may do you good but try to avoid a cut throat competitive scenario. You should work in a capacity that helps you build bridges for your future, not creating enemies.
The Perks: Maybe the job you get has a lot of glitz and glamour. You may get first class seats to everything. A huge corporate gig, blurring the line between right and wrong and draining all your energy. You are in it for the money. Take this option if you are in a dire need of it. Try to keep this option as a stepping stone. Once you are out of debt go attain your real goal.
Regardless of what you choose, there is no job that lasts a lifetime. Long gone are the days when candidates would stick around for ten to fifteen years to one place. When you do have to decide always choose opportunity and a good work environment over salary.
