Biryani, a sizzling delight during 24/7 and throughout the year

Yummy and filling the only tummy but never the greediness, biryani is our all-time favorite. People are always hungry for a plate of biryani. In our country, they begin eating it in the breakfast.

Many love to enjoy a mouthwatering brunch with this savory dish. In the corporate sector, many office workers are often reluctant to bring home-cooked food only for the sake of eating freshly cooked biryani with an appetizing aroma at the lunch. In trade centers, shopping malls, markets or at any other outlet, biryani is compulsory at least once a week. Biryani is always inclusive in routine family dinners which are often scheduled during weekends. Many housewives flatter their husbands with deliciously cooked biryani to render some money for going shopping or for buying a gift for any of their relative or friends.

Mothers cook it as a delight to their children during weekends or after exams. Love birds hang around a café and cherish their beautiful moments by enjoying biryani together. Husbands tease their wives by recalling their mothers’ taste. They usually taunt that no one can ever cook biryani better than their mothers. Biryani is also symbolic for impressing about to be in-laws. Newly wedded daughter-in-laws also show their mastery with biryani to win the heart of their in-laws. So, biryani is always around to make someone inspired or happy.

A real, true or exact recipe of biryani is always hard to discover in Pakistan. So, trust more on the ones that suit more to your taste buds. Our country is culturally diversified. There are regional boundaries in our country and every region has at least one and often more than one genuine recipe of biryani with a particular taste. On cooking channels, this becomes more complicated. A countless number of chefs are giving you a countless number of recipes. Sindhi biryani, Bombay biryani, raw meat biryani and etc. are only to name some few. The list is ever increasing.

So, select only one or two to avoid complications. Biryani is a real blessing only if it is cooked with hygiene. It has all the ingredients of a balanced diet. It has proteins (beef, mutton or chicken), minerals (spices), vitamins (lemon and tomatoes), fats (oil or Ghee) and carbohydrates (rice) and off course water, if added more by mistake for by some inexperienced cook during trial cooking. A research says that commercial biryani is more lethal than smoking cigarettes. No one is sure of the quality of meat, rice, oil and other ingredients of the biryani sold by a vendor. Improperly washed utensils, and plates and dirty water used in cooking can cause hepatitis A in many cases. But who cares? Whenever you are near to a biryani vendor, the aroma locks you like a dotting damsel and you end up by ordering a plate. If you are in a hurry, you demand a parcel. Biryani saddened me last year, the most.

I had never enjoyed biryani as a mourning feast. It is killing to eat biryani after the burial of a relative. If you are hungry for so long, you somehow eat few morsels. Many of us do not mind to enjoy this feast also. They say that death is for all and it is a natural phenomenon. They are right.

But last year my mother left me forever. The biryani we served on the third day was the worst in taste and it was not yummy yet we all filled our tummy.
