Planning a cook house can be the most exciting thing to do because it can make your imagination run wild. Believe me, to create an efficient kitchen it takes more than just money. To start with you require the basic technique of kitchen designing, availability of various types of equipment and of course IDEAS. The basic layouts: This is the key to successful planning of a kitchen which is easy to work in. you will have to choose the perfect layouts based on your personal life style and convenience; and according to the space available. Though, it is not necessary that only large kitchens are the most easy to work in. A small kitchen, with the right layout can be just as orderly. To start with, there are five basic kitchen layouts: 1. The L-shape2. The U-shape3. The single line4. The big island5. The tiny kitchen Where not a bit space is wasted. While planning, the work sequence should always be kept in mind. Food storage, the preparation, the cooking and the serving areas should be adjusted in such a way that it is most practical. The most essential of these activities being the Food storage (refrigerator, food cabinets), preparation (sinks and work tops) and cooking (oven or stove). The sequence of these three is called work triangle. The basic concept of the size of the sides of this work triangle should be applied according to the size of the kitchen. First you need to work out how everything is going to fit in, in the correct place. So let’s get started! First measure accurately the dimensions of your kitchen. This calls for extra care to watch out for corners which seem to be form perpendicularly but actually are not 90 degrees because it might cause problem s when fitting in cupboards or appliances. Also, be sure there is no uneven flooring. At the corners be careful that the door don’t open into each other. L-SHAPED KITCHEN: Versatility and availability of traffic free zone to work in are the main plus points of the layout. This type of kitchen can fit snugly into any corner and therefore any kind of room can be used. An open living room with an L-shaped kitchen looks more stylish. An L-shaped kitchen can also accommodate a breakfast bar. Not only is it space saving but an extremely sociable arrangement. It is best to concentrate the position of the work triangle towards the corner for the continuous run of work surface is marvelous for cooking. One idea is to cut across the corner at an angle and built in a sink or hob, or install a built in oven.
U-SHAPED KITCHEN: In this arrangement, the appliances and units are arranged along three sides of a square or rectangle leaving the fourth side for the door. The cook is not distributed by the usual trafficking because there is no break of work place by doorways. Remember a U-shaped kitchen may allow a lot of work surface but can give rise to a larger work triangle which can be tiring for the cook. There is usually ample room left to design a tall larder (storeroom) and broom cupboard at the end, to avoid sudden interruption in the work surface.SINGLE LINE KITCHEN: In this arrangement the kitchen fits on any long wall. Though such a kitchen is easy to run but is often short on space. This kind of kitchen can often accommodate a dining table if the room is big enough, as the appliances can be placed neatly in one area. The sink should definitely be placed in the center of the single line and there should be worktop space between the sink and appliances. Make sure you choose either sliding doors or bi fold doors. Bi-fold doors are hinged in the middle, fold back on themselves and neatly open up allowing full access to the cupboards. ISLAND KITCHEN: This really is a modification in a large U-shaped or L-shaped kitchen with an extra table or trolley in the middle of the room. The island should actually be a fixed built-in feature but a table or trolley could serve the purpose. The work triangle in an island kitchen can be very compact but it must be made sure that there should be enough space around the island to allow the cupboards to open freely. The sink, fridge or the cooker is not generally placed in the island for the difficulty of bringing the gasoline, water pipes or electricity wires from the sides of the room.TINY KITCHEN: Shortage of space can be quite a problem and will take hours of planning to fit in everything in the right place. Keep in mind that you have to accommodate only the essential appliances and things of requirement. The color scheme of tiny kitchens should be light with highlights of dark wood outline to define the units. The color of walls should be such that it blends well with the surrounding and gives the feeling of openness. A fully tiled kitchen is easier to clean; if you choose your kitchen to be tiled, then strictly avoid tiles with intricate patterns.Make your kitchen a better and more pleasant place to work in. HAPPY PLANNING!
