A letter to Conventional Fashion:
Dear Fashion,
Remember the 1970s when women used to walk on the ramp, displaying new clothes and latest fashion styles, the trend is still in. The long frocks and skirts have been improvised and replaced with various cut gowns. The casual T-shirt and jeans have remained the uniform in West from over a century. Initially designed as the work pants for men, it became the costume of working women as well in 1930s. Then they became in demand by parents who wanted pants as a sport costume for their children. In 1960s pant and T-shirts became the new style for teenagers. The purpose of the costume changed while the fashion remained stagnant.
Handbags were a rare accessory in 1950s, the trend changed in later decades. Women started taking handbags with them, it became a symbol of brand and status. Later, the importance of handbags reached a point where not having one, felt incomplete. The length, colors and styles of handbags have changed with time, but in essence they are still the same.
The vogue of Oxford shoes initially found in 1920s are still highly preferred. Fashion of low heels started in the 40s and then in 1960s boots became the new craze of society. A trend of neon color sneakers came in 80’s. Today all these variations are available, but nothing extraordinarily unique.
Technology has brought miraculous innovations in all fields, but sadly, not in the fashion industry. Fashion requires fresh makeup. Experimenting with colors, making same clothes, for one season they get short the other season similar thing is turned into frocks, adding heels and removing heels with the passage of decades, this is not just boring it lacks creativity. Fashion is about imagination, inspiration and ingenuity. What it has become is just an exaggeration of same old junk.
Incorporate technology in fashion and bring innovation for its survival.
Sincerely Innovation
