Wireless DSLR Application

science skills in order to eliminate what is currently considered as a constraint for the DSLR camera users i.e. to remain within the physical bounds of camera in order to operate it.

The features of the first iteration were:

  1. Live view
  2. Take Picture
  3. Change ISO Settings
  4. Change AV Settings
  5. Change TV Settings
  6. Intervalometer
  7. Battery Status
  8. White Balance

| Live view

When connected to the system, the key feature is the ability to see what the camera is seeing. Users are provided with a screen to have the live view streaming from the camera wirelessly.

They can adjust the frame up to the desired requirement using the live view.

| Take Picture

The next important feature is to take picture of whatever you are seeing through the camera, so the ability to take picture wirelessly from the camera itself is a vital feature. Users are be provided with the button to take the picture asynchronously without disturbing the live view feed from the camera.

| Change ISO Settings

The next thing is changing the settings of the camera, while ability to take picture wirelessly. The option of changing an important setting of ISO is also necessary feature. Users are provided with the list taken from the camera through server each time for the specific camera model to select and adjust the value of ISO, while updating the live view with the current ISO setting.

| Change TV Settings

Including the ISO changing feature also brings the next equally important setting. The option of changing the setting of shutter speed is also necessary feature. Users are provided with the list taken from the camera through server each time for the specific camera model to select and adjust the value of shutter speed, while updating the live view with the current shutter speed setting.

| Change AV Settings

Now with the ability to change the ISO and TV settings of the camera directly from the application. The option of changing an important setting of aperture is also a vital feature. Users are provided with the list taken from the camera through server each time for the specific camera lenses to select and adjust the value of aperture, while updating the live view with the current AV setting.

| Intervalometer

While the other features where the vitals for the camera operations, the feature of Intervalometer does not fall into the similar category, rather it is more for the comfort of the users. Intervalometer is the feature where a user can set the number of pictures to be taken with the time interval for each picture.

For example: If a user wants to take 10 images to be taken with 3 seconds interval, with this feature added to Wireless DSLR application the user is now free from the misery of taking each picture themselves, all they have to do is to put the integers into the provided blanks and click the shutter button afterwards leave the rest to the camera and application. The resulting images are saved to the camera.

| Battery Status

Another feature with the normal priority is the need of checking the battery status, user can see the battery status into out to 3 bars from the camera screen, a better option is available to the Wireless DSLR application that the battery will be shown on the main screen in the percentages.

| White Balance

Another important feature is the white balance of the image, It vastly changes how the final image is look there are couple of white balance settings which includes : Auto, Sunny, Cloudy, Flash, Fluorescent light and Blub, each of which have their own warmth level resulting in how colder(bluish) or how warm (brownish) the picture will look. Having this usage in mind the ability to change white balance is added as well. Users are provided with the list of the available values to change from and then the selected value will have its result on the live view.

Last but no least the feature which makes the application viable, is the ability of having the captured image right away into your cellphone.

When the image is captured the picture is saved directly from camera to application through server into image gallery, from where it can be viewed and shared to the social media and friends.
