A Home Wrecker Story- Is It Always The Fault Of The Other Woman

Being the ‘other woman’ in an affair with a married man isn’t a fairy tale dream of every woman. The path can be defaming, painful and a constant battle of one’s subtle insecurities. But is the other woman the real home wrecker?

Few days back, I got a call from my former coworker. It’s been six months since she left her job. She asked me to urgently look for her a rental house in some safe locality. I was surprised that why would she leave her new posh apartment that she just brought. I instantly smelt something fishy in it. In order to reduce my accelerating curiosity, I invited her at my place.

Dressed in a poorly ironed pink shirt and pant, she hastily entered into my lounge as my keeper had left the main door open. Her tangled hair in a loose bun were evincing that she was stressed out at the moment. I offered her a seat .After a while, She exclaimed that she must leave her apartment within a week as she’s been threatened there. At first, I couldn’t believe that what this peaceful and ever since quiet lady has to do with the word ‘threat’. As she further added that throughout the week, she’s been constantly threatened by her former boss’s wife. I couldn’t resist, I asked her about this strange connection of her with my boss’s wife. And then she began her story..

‘’It just started eleven months back, when I got newly appointed for my job. From the very start, the boss’s over friendliness towards me was quite evident for me but from time to time I brushed it off as his humbleness. It grew more noticeable, since He came to know about my mom’s cancer. From the general courtesy it escalated to the personal proposals as once he saw that being a sole breadwinner of my family, I couldn’t support my mom’s treatment. I abruptly tried to decline his every offer. But as soon as the doctors gave their final verdict regarding my mom’s surgery, I accepted his proposals. I was well aware of my penury. Throughout that crucial period he stood by my side, financially and emotionally. For that I’m still very grateful to him. But unfortunately, my mom didn’t survive and she left me all alone. Right after the two months of my mom’s death, Boss catapulted another proposal to me. This time quite appalling one. He asked me out. Being aware of his marital status, I promptly refused it. But then one day, he called me in his office. Where he explained me patently that how badly he wants me and is sick of living with his troublesome wife, later he tried to convince me that how my relationship with him will help me secure my future. Muddled in my thoughts, I left that place. As I reached my home, I started pondering on his proposals. Having all that long list of my debts, a low paying job, some inimical relatives and my feebleness in mind. I somehow decided, looking forward to his advances.

The other day, when I met him I made it very clear that I will not settle for anything less than a marriage. Surprisingly, He agreed for that and suggested me to leave my job as he wants his wife to remain uninformed about the commitment at this point. Soon he settled me in a posh apartment. He also paid my remaining debts. Finally somehow I was satisfied with my decision. But just two days before the commencement of our marriage, His grumpy wife landed up in our apartment astoundingly. Before I could make any step, she started ranting at me and accusing me of being a ‘home wrecker’. Before leaving, she gave the reference of her influential background. She threatened to defame and even kill me. This whole incident left me devastated. I tried to contact my so called ‘husband to be’ but his phone remained inaccessible for days until I realized that he has actually blocked my number. Well, now I can’t rely on him. I’m left with some cash just enough to rent a home, while I’ve started looking for a job.’’

After hearing her side of story, I wasn’t able to say much but promised to rent her a house meanwhile I offered her a stay at my place.

This meeting left me distressed and wondering for days, is it really always the’ other woman ‘who is a home wrecker? What about men who cheat on their wives and seek young vulnerable women? Why always wives forgive their husbands and never forget to label the’ other woman’ as a home wrecker? But why not they label their husbands, after all it’s their home not of that ‘other woman?’
