A person with normal but doughty height; with black and shiny hair touching the broad and healthy shoulders, used to pass by a house where lived an old but angry woman. The old lady had proved herself so persistent in throwing the daily household garbage, trash, and waste, from the roof of her house, onto the head of that elegant person, that she used to wait anxiously for this very moment for the whole day. It was like a puritanical duty, for her, which ought to be fulfilled.
But every time, she would do this offending and agony provoking action, that uncomplaining man would become an epitome of patience, forbearance and tolerance. His fair, lovely and gleaming face with aptly cut black beard which, now, was a little dusty with the particles of dust from the trash thrown onto him, would show no signs of exasperation or rage. His long, glittering, black eyes would remain as calm as they had been always. He would just look up towards the face of the woman; would pass a pretty,heart-softening smile and proceed towards his destiny.
The sins of this man were enormous and unforgivable. He had challenged the status quo of that era. He expounded that there was only One God who was the most merciful to His creature. He preached that people should tolerate each other and should leave the vendettas and wars they had been battling since long ago. He said that Women should be treated as human beings. They should be given respect and care. They should not be infanticide. They are blessings of God to you, not the cause of curse and humiliation. All men are equal. Nobody enjoys privilege over another. Slaves should not be treated as animals. They should be provided with the same clothes and food as you wear and eat. Many other unpardonable and intolerable sins like mentioned, turned the people of that area stringently antagonistic to him. They all were his sworn enemies. They would leave no stone unturned to stall him from the accomplishment of his mission.
One day, to the astonishment of that charming person, no filth or waste was poured onto his head from the roof of the house of old lady. He became anxious and worried. Investigating from the people around, it was disclosed that the old lady was suffering from an ailment. Saddened by this news, he promptly headed towards the lady's house, knocked at the door, entered, and went where she was lying.
Lady: (startled) What are you doing here? Are you here to harm person: No, I'm here to ask after you.
Lady: I throw garbage upon you and you are here to inquire about my health. You should be happy that today, no trash was thrown on you. But you are sad about my illness? Why is it so?
Person: This is what my God has taught me. My God has taught the lesson of peace, love, tolerance and kindness. He has sent me with the message of love for humanity without any discrimination of rich or poor, believer or non-believer.
The women impressed by this pleasant and affectionate conduct embraced Islam. Today, about 1/3rd of the world follow that person. His name is Muhammad(PBUH), the most perfect and complete human being, the world has ever witnessed.
This incidence from Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) life is only a single drop from the ocean of his extraordinary congenial and polite conduct and unflinching character. His main teachings were tolerance, peace, love, emancipation and upgradation of oppressed segments of society(women, the poor and slaves), an equal dispensation of justice to everyone and love for humanity etc. Consequently, inspired by his fascinating and lucrative teachings; gravitated by his fabulous and attractive personality; and subjugated by his courteous and perfect behaviour, people, from all the walks of life, from every corner of the world began to proselytize to this egalitarian and democratic faith, Islam.
