I was so much excited that night when I received a call for interview. I still remember that I could not sleep properly because of anxious thoughts about the next day like how would I appear in the interview? what would they ask me? how would I answer their questions? and so on. I heard a quote some time ago that “The Time is the best teacher” & I realized this fact right after I cleared the interview and got selected.
I somehow managed to spend that night in knitting dreams with curiosity and got up early in the morning to get ready so I could take my first step towards a journey which would last for next 9 years as a voyage of experience with an international organization.
I still can retrieve that moment when I was sitting in a corner with other candidates in waiting room in a high depressive and tense mood as I was quite nervous about what will happen next, being unaware that someone was observing me so closely that all of a sudden he asked me “ you look so worried bhai”. That was Saghir whom I never met before & this was my first ever meeting with him (and neither one of us knew that this wasn't the end rather there would be no end of this meeting in the coming years). I came out of my miserable thoughts to have a glance at his face with dull eyes.
There was a sheer confidence I observed on his calmed face as if he had a lot of job experience or this wasn’t his First Interview. “I have no prior experience to appear in an interview for such a reputed organization” I expressed my pensiveness. “Don’t be worried bro!” He encouraged and guided me “…just remember one thing, they will ask you very first question to introduce yourself so you should reply them in English, show your strength of character and try to answer them with endurance as much as you can, to make a good impression, would you able to do that?” he asked me. “Yes I can do it” I swiftly replied & kept listening to him for some more points that helped me ahead.
While I was musing to overcome my dazing state by creating presentable sentences in my mind, my name was called out for interview. I closed my eyes for a short spell, concentrated once & stood up with determination and walked through the gate. “I can do it” someone was whispering inside me. By the time I reached the entrance of Interview Room I had recovered my shattered confidence already and was full of aplomb, thanks to the motivation provided by Saghir my first friend in office since that day.
I don't know how many questions were asked and how I replied all of those but I still remember when Ma’am asked me ‘for how long will you stay with us' I was dumb answering that one because to me this Job was ultimate and there was not a single thought to switch to another one so with the same spiral in mind I replied that “as long as you would need me’ this triggered a smile on every one’s face which I couldn’t read that time but today I can guess why they smiled that way.
I love my job and admire being a part of this environment which is like a family to me now.
