Women of the twenty-first century are no more weak, shy, flimsy and fraidy-cats. They are more competent, versatile, technology-driven and are giving tough competition to men in many fields. Nowadays, females are contributing to almost every business and profession. They are playing significant roles and are creating hallmarks. But despite all these attributes, still, ladies of today face many issues at the workplace, such as
• Fewer Wages
It is common practice among many offices that women are offered fewer wages comparatively to men even for the same position. They are considered to be less competent and are assumed to provide low yield, which is completely wrong. Instead of this gender discrimination, one should seriously observe the efforts put by an employee in his/her tasks.
• Sexual harassment
One of the shameful acts of a society that still prevails even in reputed and well-educated environments is of sexual abuse, which women face. There are few cunning men, that harass them either to curtail their success or just because of their own filthy nature and intentions.
• Gender Biases
Womenfolk have drawn out many success stories and have created a well-reputed history in this perspective but still, they are victims of gender discrimination in this male dominant society. There are various reasons for this but none of them is valid enough to deprive a woman of the post which she deserves due to her skills and capabilities. Many vacancies are predefined to be opened for only men, sometimes the working hours are defined as that are not suitable for women to work, hence it automatically lessens the job opportunity for female workers. Some boss doesn't hire women at work because they get irritated of maternity leaves.
• Life imbalance
Life becomes very tough for a working woman, as she has to manage a complete family with her. Both are important to them, most of the time due to heavy work duties, they can't give a good time to their family and hence family members feel ignored. Their life gets really busy and they hardly find time for themselves. Few business owners think due to their domestic problems and tensions, women can’t work with concentration.
• Difficulty in handling office politics
Male colleagues habitually create the situation more grim for the female members at work. Their ego is hurt when they see a woman crossing them in achievement or when they have to report to a female manager. Their gossips and comments about the success of a lady are often not good. Most of them instead of appreciating her, try to find the worthless and insignificant reasons behind their triumph. This causes a negative image and it's not easy for a woman to tolerate and bear such challenges. To tackle such male psyche is another challenge for a working lady.
• Inflexible workplace
Many offices do not have separate restrooms for female workers, due to which they can’t take rest during their break times. As they can’t relax and hence get tired earlier before off time.
The lifecycle of a woman is full of trials and challenges. The steps of a success ladder are more difficult for a lady than a man. Instead of all this, women are still progressing up. They are proving their worth. They need to work with same enthusiasm to excel in all fields.
