Respect: the basic need of every human being. As an individual , citizen and person, each and every one has a basic necessity, a need and desire to be respected. Any person, being old or young, child or adult, male or female, husband or wife, mother or father, brother or sister, parent or teacher, rich or poor, everyone shares a common basic need or right: RESPECT.
To define it in a simple way: a way to show courtesy, decency and good manners to others. To treat them with regards, with the best attitude and manners . The use being that, we get it back. Keeping in mind a well known proverb: As you sow so shall you reap" their proverb is usually explained in very limited sense. To describe it fully, the more you work out for something, the more fruitful is the result, the more you try to be good to others, the more you are valued by them, the more you spread happiness and love around, the more you receive it.
Next question may come in mind: "How to identify respect? " well, in order to know it's presence, it is to be keenly observed, to be paid attention to, and to be looked for. Just like love, happiness, sadness, anger and fear, all these are actually perceived; after which their presence is known.
Respect has a great importance in every relationship, where there is its presence, there is everything, and where not, there is nothing.it should necessarily present in every relationship, whether being husband and wife, parents and children, brothers and sisters, teachers and students, elders and youngs, seniors and juniors, even among friends. With its presence, respect demands certain boundaries to be set and some limitations to be present, which varies according to the relation. It needs to be appreciated and expressed.
Once a person enters his practical life, it is there he acknowledges the real importance of respect. He understands that in order to be successful, he needs to be well mannered and sophisticated or he may not be appreciated anywhere. He realises that in order to be valued, he has to give regards to others. He learns that on to flourish, he needs to be decent and civilised. Automatically, he achieves, respect.
When while trying to gain respect ourselves, we forget that it is our duty too to give it to others. While disregarding others, on basis of their social status, race and occupation, we forget that they also are humans like us, sharing equal rights like us, demanding equally while performing their duties. We greatly lack in our duties to people of our society, while taking away their basic rights. But sadly, most of us come to realise this when we are among the one to be suffered. When we are being deprived off our rights, when we are not treated as should be and when we are not getting our respect, we get to know our mistakes.
Isn't it better to strive a little for what we want? Is it fair enough to achieve what we don't deserve? Is it justificable to be the receiving ones' all the time?
