She pushed the trolley full of grocery items and moved towards the cash counter her 5 years old son by her side. As she was paying the bill her son demanded a chocolate. She shooed him away with a refusal “I don’t have enough money left to buy you a chocolate” were her words. She collected her bags and moved towards the parking lot, her son right behind her.
On reaching home she placed all the grocery items on the kitchen counter. That was when she noticed her son holding the very same chocolate in his hand, the one he had demanded in the supermarket.
“Where did you get that from?” she asked surprisingly though she already knew the answer
“I took it from the stand when we were leaving” he replied innocently
“why? Did the shopkeeper see you?” she asked nervously
“No. you said you didn’t have enough money so I took it when nobody was watching” he smiled as he thought of it as an achievement.
The women laughed at his innocence as she walked away and a Thief was born. Some years later the same woman sat outside a police station begging the police to let her son go. In her heart she knew who the real culprit was.
