Happiness And Man

In this modern era, we frequently listen to one saying that “I want to be happy”. “I want peace of mind”.” How can I lead a peaceful and happy life?” These questions ask by majority of the people clearly demonstrate the fact that Happiness is very important in life and also compel us to think that “Is mankind really happy today despite of all the technological and economic development?” To answer this question, we need to first know the true definition of happiness and then the man’s standards of being happy.

To state a one exact definition of happiness is not possible because everyone in this world has his/her own definition of happiness. But simply speaking happiness is a feeling of fulfillment, sense of freedom and achievement. Talking about one’s own definition of happiness it is observed that everyone links his/her happiness with his/her dreams. And since this is a materialistic age, everyone dreams of being socially and economically strong, so, we can say that today man has converged all his efforts towards making big bucks of money and consequently making his life’s happiness dependent on money.

Talking about men’s standards of happiness it is also observed that happiness has levels. Levels in a sense that during childhood man has a maximum level of happiness but as he grows up and strive to develop himself economically his level of happiness decreases and as described earlier in this struggle his feelings become materialistic and eventually his happiness becomes dependent on money.

Man should dream big and strive to develop himself economically strong but making his life’s dependent on money and achieving his dreams is not appropriate and justifiable. Man should enjoy the journey along with destination and should start enjoying the little things because little drops make sea. He should enjoy the nature because nature has relieving and pacifying powers. Man should not make money and materialistic things his all assets of life because these are temporary things and he should remember that this world is for him not he is for the world.

In concluding, we can say that happiness is not a thing which a man can earn like the other materialistic things but a feeling which can be felt in soil’s smell, wind playing with clouds, birds sound, cricket’s chirp etc. and last but not the least “Happiness is all around the man. It is his choice whether he feels it or not!”.
