With increasing advancement in technology and emphasis upon ease in life the modern era persuades the new generation upon prioritising processed food but the question remains: Is this quick fix actually a lifesaver or a nightmare?
What actually is food processing? It is the modification of any agricultural product from one form to another by use of mechanical or chemical means along with addition of preservatives. Some of them are cereals, meat, cheese, bread, tinned vegetables, convenience food such as ready to eat meals and alot more.More time and energy saving with less susceptibility to infections like those caused by salmonella sounds great, isn't it? Unfortunately the other side of the story is always overshadowed which depicts the reduced mineral density by such processing like loss of Vitamin C by heat exposure. The recent researches also indicates that abundant processing endangers microbial environment of human body. The preservatives included in meal preparation tend to add to the negative aspect of this procedure. Despite all of these major drawbacks processed food to date has high public demand which in turn is resulting in deteriorating health for most of us.
This processing does have some benefits however the cons associated with it can't be ignored. Therefore from the facts stated above it can be inferred that it is important to choose food options wisely since all processed foods are not harmful but all harmful foods are unhealthy.
