Body Shaming-Body Shaming is when you're being very critical about someone's physical appearance. And it means making humiliating comments, making the other person feel uncomfortable about their body, about how they look. Body shaming to be clear is not only for overweight when you are telling somebody k, you're very skinny , kuch khaya piya kro, hawa chlygi urrjaogi and all kind of comments that are funny for you but if the other person is finding it offensive and getting hurt then it is body shaming. If you are skinny people will call you hanger, skeleton and the list goes on. If you're bulky you'll be called Bhaens, mota/moti will be your nickname. If you are 4 or 5 in height, you'll hear it alot of times "Bachpan ma Ammi ny Complan nahi pilaya?" "Ltky kyun nahi?" And if being a girl, you're 5'6 or more you'll be called by names like "Lamba Khmba". Unfortunately, we live in a society where being skinny is not that much of a big deal but being overweight is a sin. I just want to know that who have set the standards of beauty and perfection? I mean on what grounds and what basis are people deciding this. Who decides that? Being a Muslim, Islam hasn't told us that if someone is fat than he or she can't be beautiful or if someone has a dark complexion then she isn't pretty enough. I mean who decides that? If there is any.any important incident taking place in your life the first thing you'll hear is "Lose some weight, get into the right shape". A function is coming up, patli hojao. Eid hai, us sy phly phly you need to lose some weight. Oh My God Most Importantly, shaadi.Shaadi sy pehly patli hojao. Kyun?? Kyun hona ha shaadi sy pehly patli?? Why is that so important? You wanna get married for people or you want to get married for your happiness to the person with whom you're going to spend the rest of your life, who knows your reality and who accepts you the way you are. Why do you want to become someone that you are not? Why do you need to push yourself so much? If my life partner likes me the way I'm then why do I need to gain or lose weight for satisfying other people? If you're facing health issues due to your overweight then it is alright to control your diet. You should consult people. BUT if things are already on good levels, no health issues, nothing, then why are you trying to change yourself for people? Embrace yourself people. That's the only key to be happy. Alhamdulillah i haven't faced any such things but sadly there are people in everyone's life talking nonsense. Last year i got engaged. One day I happened to meet my old "friend" at a parlor. Answering her question i told her about my wedding dates, and the first thing she said in the reply was "OK SO ARE YOU GOING TO JOIN THE GYM OR WHAT?" Are you for real? I'm going to start a new life, instead of showing excitement or sending duas my way, is this all that you have to say? But then again, I'm not blaming anyone individually I'm just blaming the society. We are brought up in such society where these sorts of comments are quite normal. But when your family or people that matters to you start believing what the society says, that's when things get wrong. You get hurt. I understand that your family doesn't want you to feel bad and they care for you etc etc. I understand but guys people need to grow out of this. People need to understand that long lasting and genuine relationships cannot and can never be build up on your appearance. And the rest that are not genuine, ewww I don't want such in my life, do you?
