1. Coordinate filing, storage and retrieval of both manual and electronic drawings.
2. Understands the equations, calculations and written instructions from designers and engineers before beginning a CAD drawing.
3. Uses special notations and symbols to give instructions on drawings and blueprints.
4. Draws plans for structural foundations and other construction projects.
5. Uses manual drawing skills for plans that cannot be computer generated.
6. Draws layout of room and building interiors.
7. Revises drawings based on instructions from engineers or architects.
8. Determines impact of site requirements and building codes before doing drawings or blueprints.
9. Draws illustrations of mechanical systems for manuals.
10. Stores drawings electronically for later use.
11. Programs drawings into manufacturing systems.
12. Producing rough sketches and using CAD software to prepare detailed drawings, plans, and blueprints.
13. Visiting sites to gather information, and determine limitations and feasibility of designs.

1. Associate's Degree in Drafting or similar.
2. Additional courses in CAD software.
3. Practical experience with CAD related softwares.
4. Knowledge of engineering and construction.
5. Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
6. Accuracy and effectiveness in electronic drafting.
