Job Description

The Technical Consultant is a customer-orientated role which is responsible for pre-installation, configuration, and testing of the solutions deployed by Services Delivery and involves cross-functional interaction with Engineering and Support. .Provide technical input to pre-sales activities, including customer workshops. Provide technical expertise on solution delivery fundamentals. Provide input, prepare, maintain and own, all relevant activities and deliverables from the Project Delivery Lifecycle, for the successful delivery of customer projects; e.g.configuration,implementation planning, test planning and execution etc. Plan and execute (onsite and/or offsite) assembly, configuration, and testing of the solution for deployment in the customer's environment in accordance with the developed documentation. Plan and execute the effective transition of the solution to Support. Provide assistance as required by Support, for resolution of issues in production systems. Assist all project team staff as required in order to meet deadlines and eSG Services Deliveries priorities. Provide input as required on product and customer specific functionality, configuration, and usage for training and documentation purposes. Stay abreast of the underlying technology and architecture of the product and solutions; and of business, market, and competitive needs from a functional and technical perspective. Share skills and experience with other groups within the organisation, with the aim of establishing consistency and improving quality within the company. Proactively and promptly identify and assist to resolve, any relevant key issues and/or risks. Understand, follow and improve upon all formally-communicated methodologies, processes, policies, and values. Focusing always on delivering consistent, reliable, repeatable, scalable and quality outcomes. Provide support and encouragement to other team members and participate in the up-skilling and training of colleagues and new staff. Able to travel as and when reasonably requested. Job Specification

University degree in the field of engineering, mathematics or computer science, or equivalent experience including professional programming, testing or technical background. Relevant technical experience of Telecommunications, Intelligent Networks and/or Next Generation Networks. Technical knowledge Sound knowledge in the following areas: Relevant telephony protocols applicable , e.g. TCP/IP, SS7, INAP, CAMEL, MAP, H323, Sigtran (and its related subsets), etc. This requirement is relevant to Level 3 and 4 staff, not Level 2. Scripting language: e.g. Perl, Python. UNIX, especially Solaris. Relational database concepts, especially Oracle. Object oriented concepts. Distributed system technologies. Microsoft Office. For those with specialist DBA skills: Very strong knowledge of Oracle-specific and/or generic SQL database concepts and operation, including scripting. Experience in distributed database management and Cluster environments. Experience with Oracle RAC systems and solutions. Good knowledge of Oracle Data Guard and Veritas Volume Manager. Strong Oracle administration abilities. Good UNIX (Solaris) administration abilities. Experience with Oracle backup and recovery solutions. Product knowledge Have good knowledge of commercial applications of one or more of the following areas (This requirement is relevant to Level 3 and 4 staff, not Level 2): Mobile Network Operators Charging and Rating Mobile Network Operators - Messaging Mobile Network Operators Recharge (Voucher management etc) Mobile Network Operators Promotion Management Mobile Network Operators - Networking Financial Payments. Industry knowledge Experience in the telecommunications industry; including delivering solutions in one or more the mobile, fixed, MVNO or Internet telecommunications environments. Experience with both industry standard software development and project implementation methodologies. Experience with the creation and execution of test strategies, plans and scripts. Project management skills Ability to achieve agreed deliverable, monitor and report progress. Experience with project scoping and risk management (This requirement is relevant to Level 3 and 4 staff, not Level 2). Communication skills Excellent English oral and written skills.(Arabic would be a plus) Communicate effectively and professionally with customers and other third party companies. Ability to work and interact effectively in a team environment.
