Role Purpose
Reporting to the Senior Web Developer, the Web Developer is a critical role to help the FINCA Impact microfinance institutions and banks grow and retain customers using digital marketing. The role is WordPress focused and responsible for supporting website development, redesign, maintenance, and critical and time-sensitive repairs. of this position.This position is an excellent opportunity for growth in the high demand field of microfinance and digital marketing. The role will require the management of multiple website projects at one time, with the willingness to do so and superior customer service approach.
Accountabilities
- Perform maintenance, development of new digital features and tools, troubleshooting, testing, deployment, documentation and support of a Global Web Hosting solution using industry best practices in PHP/HTML/JavaScript/jQuery/Ajax within the framework of a custom application extending a WordPress multisite environment in multiple languages.
- Develop specifications and make recommendations on the use of new and emerging technologies. This may include programming, interactive design, implementation and database administration are all elements
- Work directly with subsidiary marketing teams, key daily activities will include
- Create and develop new tools and functions
- Test and improve the design of the website
- Test sites and applications in different browsers and environments
- Perform Website updates
- Troubleshoot, fix bugs, and resolve web related tickets, some of them may occur outside of business hours
- Provide end-user support
- Monitor the performance of the live website (report timely on issues and possible areas of improvements)
- Perform Host Server Activities like: WHM/cPanel, Server Applications, Server logs and Back-up functions
- Monitor Server: Application updates, Regular Server Upgrades, Reboots of Server, Daily Back Up Service etc.
- Learn and test new technologies, frameworks, and languages
- Stay up to date with new digital marketing trends and advancements in web development
Job Specification
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Information Technology or commensurate experience required.
Experience
- Minimum three years' experience in web development;
- Experience with creating responsive websites;
- Working knowledge of the WordPress platform:
- WP Network (Multisite);
- Develop custom WP plugins, modules, and themes;
- Customizing WP to support specific functionality
- Working with debugging tools such as Chrome Inspector and Firebug;
- Possesses a working knowledge of server and client side technologies to oversee ISP operations including proficiency with SSH, SSL, SFTP;
Knowledge and Skills
- Understanding of the web development cycle and programming techniques and tools;
- Knowledge PHP, OOP PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, HTML, jQuery, Ajax;
- Knowledge of commonly used frameworks and libraries;
- Good understanding of content management systems;
- Knowledge of SEO best practices;
- Google Web Applications for Websites (Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Google Tag Manager, Google AdWords).
Language Skills
- Fluency in English is required.
