System Administrator tasks:
1. Maintain LAMP systems and keep the TeacherTube CMS running
2. Apache issues, such as tuning, load issues, URL rewriting, connections
3. PHP tuning, such as error logs, security, and troubleshooting
4. Upgrade, maintain, and test support structures such as FFMPEG, mplayer, mencoder, codecs file upload limits and issues
5. MySQL tuning and support scripts in a master/slave replication environment
6. NFS mounts, file movement, and file sharing.
7. Support file identification integrity, management, and storage
8. Site backups for data recovery and disaster mitigation, including offsite backups using DROBO
9. Maintain php ndmail servers
10. Maintain lighttp
11. Manage and support monitor systems, such as Nagios, Zabbix, Munin
12. Perl scripting for file movement
13. Shell scripts for disk management, back-ups, file transport, server monitoring, and automated recovery

Hardware and OS maintenance tasks:
1. We run Ubuntu 10.04 LTS for most of our servers. We need help upgrading some older Ubuntu 8.1 servers.
2. Help identify and procure new hardware. Sunset or repurpose hardware as needed.
3. Ensure sufficient capacity and back-up systems as needed.
4. Remotely coordinate with on-site persons to handle hardware replacement and installation
5. Help guide and support replacement for failed components, such as hard drives
6. Apply software and security patches
7. Monitor bandwidth, power usage, and disk storage

Networks and Routers tasks:
1. Manage IP addresses and internal routing tables
2. Manage Bind9, external DNS, Mail MX records
3. Support Shorewall, fail2ban, zabbix, nagios, and other support tools
4. Intruder detection and mitigation
5. Tracking down network integration issues
6. Port blocking, password management, anti-virus, and anti-spam controls

Mail Servers tasks:
1. Manage and help automate the embedded mail server used for advertisements and mass mailings.
2. Manage blacklists, whitelists, and ensure compliance with regulations.
3. Help with Perl integration for automating services

Optional Skills / tasks:
1. PHP coding skill would be helpful, but not required. Our TeacherTube conent management system is writting in PHP
2. Flash CS3 coding would be helpful, but not required. Our video and audio players run in Flash CS3.

Timings:
1. Job timings for this position are from 12 PM to 9 PM Pakistan time
2. In case of additional work load, the person should be willing to work extra hours at work or from home (it will be compensated) and therefore needs to have a reasonable speed of Computer and Internet
