EDP SYSTEM ANALYST I (I)
DESCRIPTION OF WORK:
Consultant will be responsible for installing, configuring, administering, securing and tuning MS SQL Server database. He is required to have solid background in physical and logical database design. He is also required to analyze MS SQL Server database growth and use patterns to come up with a proactive capacity plan. He should provide 24/7 production database support. During database upgrade, the consultant is expected to take the lead in assessing the impact of upgrade on existing applications and formulate the upgrade plan. He should come up with database backup / restore and disaster recovery plans. He should participate in trouble-shooting performance issues and fine queries. Finally, he should implement database replication between MS SQL Server and other Database.
SKILLS REQUIRED AND ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
MCSE and MCDBA Certification. Five or more years recent experience with MS SQL Server RDBMS in the role of installing, maintaining and performance tuning, including experience with Version 2000. Five or more years experience with Windows Server 2000 and Windows Server 2003. A thorough understanding of MS SQL Server performance tuning and capacity planning. Strong experience in technical support. Follows up on problems, able to offer alternative workarounds. Deploy database onto Intranet and extranet environments. Good support attitude, listens to problems without preconceptions, adjusts priorities as required by user community. Able to provide “short version” explanations of technical problems.
DESIRABLE BUT NOT ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Experience in Windows 2003 System Administration. Experience in writing MS SQL Server security procedures and guideline documents. Experience in configuring centralized enterprise-wide user security using Active Directory. Creating and managing database clusters for high availability.
