Position Summary
To ensure the goods that meets or exceeds Sears quality standard and customer expectations will be shipped, have well-rounded knowledge in various garment assembly operations (some require knowledge in footwear, home and Hardlines), give quality standards and statistical quality control process, find and anticipate quality problems during visual inspections
Roles and Responsibilities
- Inspect Sears Merchandise prior to source shipment for adherence to established quality control standards and specifications, carton marking, documentation, labeling and packing
- Perform 5-tier inspections as assigned
- Adhere to inspection schedules
- Complete and submit QC records and inspection reports accurately, on time and in accordance with established procedures
- Ensure all government/legal requirements on the products are followed
- Compile historical data to isolate vendors, product lines and specific items having the highest rate of quality problems, product failures and discrepancies using established statistical control sample size standards
- Personally visually examine adequate sample lots of merchandise prior to shipment for general appearance and especially for conformance to Sears specifications and standards. Ensure merchandise is properly assorted, labelled and packed. Confirm cartons are properly marked and exhibit correct destination, department and article numbers
- Report immediately to QA Supervisor/Manager if there are any quality or production problems
- Review quality performance and discuss on improvements with factories
- Prepare monthly and quarterly reports as requested by the QA Supervisor/Manager
- Make surprise visits to factories as office plans
- Submit travel expenses reports on time
Job Specification
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Requirements
- Tertiary level qualification in textile or related technical discipline
- 3-4 years’ working experience in garment/Softline products for U.S. market is preferable
- Excellent vision & good color perception
- Understand and perform inspections independently
- Detailed knowledge of textile and garment production
- Capable of judgement in quality aspects
- Ability to communicate verbally and in written form
- Demonstrate maturity and accountability
- With high integrity and sense of rightness
- Willing to protect the company reputation for good quality merchandise
- Team spirit
