Job Description

NOTE: This job requires extensive travelling and stay at outstation points.

Competent Books will provide free boarding/Lodging/Food/TA.DA. to the successful candidates.

Primary duties will include responsibility for Staff Training Training new teachers regarding general running of a classroomIn depth orientation for new employees. Includes teacher/child interactions and program plan. This will be done monthlyTeach staff importance of routines --- help all staff find ways to make transitions easier.Teach staff how to do an exciting and varied circle time: accomplished at orientationProper way to serve lunch and snackImportance of buttoning, zipping jackets, hats: show staff importance of showing independenceHow to use different centers in an effective and orderly mannerIn short, all of the little things that may get overlooked if not pointed outObserving and training experienced staff who may be in need of learning things the correct way. Setting goals for experienced teachers to help them improve Attending to directors’ forms for teachers who need specific training Arranging rooms as necessary with assistance from Regional Director Update handbook for teachers, including curriculum guidelines and methods of teaching Oversight of an individual when assigning duties to her: i.e. library Direct supervision of staff and schools: Weekly meeting with Director of Curriculum. Ordering and distributing supplies and toys as needed for classrooms Communicate with floor directors about issues and concerns with staff and children (behavior) Check schools for maintenance and supplies quarterly Keep abreast of new ideas by attending Trainings: imparting information to Director of Curriculum and to staff Supply individualized monthly meeting notes to schools before staff meetings: copy to Director of Curriculum Arranging rooms as necessary and communicating with Director of Curriculum re. inventory Update libraries at schools monthly: straighten the order and keep track of missing books Work with directors to assure that all schools are following the same procedures: ex:feeding Oversight of keeping environment in great condition and have proper postings

Job Specification

Yearly Training Back to Basics, planning, circle, progress reports, curriculum frameworks, Teaching Strategies Gold Accountability to Director of Curriculum: Weekly meeting Weekly: time sheet with hours worked and locations. Projected work plan for upcoming week by Friday Floor notebook on every site, discussing strengths and weaknesses to Director of Curriculum. The end result of having a full time teacher trainer would be: Smoother running of each and every classroom Continual improvement of all staff persons Smoother running of the school as a whole (ex. Why does classroom A go out at 10:10 through classroom B while B is in the middle of project? It disrupts the class) New staff who know what to do Seasoned staff who are continually improving Work with floor directors to assess each staff and, together, make a plan for improvement. Floor directors notify you (with a form) of teachers who they think need additional training. When you suggest a change in a teacher’s methods, jot it down (sparingly) and give copy to Floor Director.
