It looks like as if HEC-Pakistan is apathetic to the alarming decline of quality business research papers in Pakistani Business schools. It is ironic that business schools/public/private Universities that were ranked so highly in 2014 produced only 2 researches that qualified for publication in X-ranked impact International Journals. "SORRY STATE OF AFFAIRS": I had the opportunity to evaluate 6 research Journals published by these highly ranked business schools last year in 2015, i was flabbergasted to see such mistakes, to say the least. From the incorrect use & over use of reliability tests like cronbach alpha to the constant use of independent variables despite having a high collinearity above .80 violating the multicollinearity rule in multiple regression analysis & ill-structured arguments from objectives, literature review to the conclusions with apocryphal references ,one just wonders how these gargantuan mistakes end up being published in such highly ranked domestic Journals is the million dollar question, maybe its just a common typo in all the 6 journals evaluated, who knows :-/ ( sarcastically put ofcourse). "DILEMMA": The problem ofcourse is the lack of qualified research supervisors who pressurize the student by forcing them to choose a particular "causal hypothesis" based research method instead of allowing the student to pick the method they feel they are comfortable with. By not doing so & sticking with the "University-Hec policy" to inculcate a particular set of research method hampers the research skills of a student, restricting his/her horizon instead of broadening it, resulting in the decline of quality business related research papers . In this deplorable "sorry state of affairs" one wonders who to look upto to take the mantle & rescue the sinking ship? (Bowing my head in despair) "THE MEASURES": Long Story Short: Where is the regulatory body HEC?. HEC Pakistan through its centres should hire qualified Phd PostDoc Scholars to evaluate & approve these research papers & Journals before final publishing as once these are submitted on the internet it becomes an open source & easily accessible to international evaluators thus resulting in a negative image of Academics in the country. Secondly universities/institutes should hire HEC approved & recommended Phd postdocs as supervisors and educators And/or include a provision that sends these supervisors for quarterly trainings & meetings conducted by HEC. Thirdly a provision must be included in the "HEC instruction to University/Institute" that allows students to choose independently the research methods that they feel they are adept at & are able to use proficiently. Optimists are sure that HEC Pakistan will take up some serious measures to tackle this problem , I'm not so sure, but Hope springs Eternal.
