Thinking about losing one’s job was never more relevant than today, as Microsoft has already announced its automation policy and replacing journalists with Artificial intelligence. The company announced that the homepages of MSN websites and the Edge browser will now operate under AI, which means you are now able to see stories produced by Artificial intelligence. However, some believe that humans can relate the stories with the cultural and traditional context and avoid stories that could harm one community or cause controversial issues, unfortunately, AI has the potential to spread miss information that has been deliberately created by humans. As we know that AI is written using codes, and these codes are created and input by humans, which means there is a chance of prejudice, meaning that it could only appeal to the person creating these quite dangerous codes.
However, to save humans losing their jobs, these machines need to be created in a more efficient way that rather replacing humans, designed to be able to extend human capability. It also depends on humans, how smartly they create these machines to able to work together. Talking to BBC, Amazon’s Tye Brady said ‘’ Human will always be needed’’. Therefore, humans need to adjust themselves according to the latest technology and Artificial intelligence.
According to experts, the jobs that are more at risk include credit analysts, Accountant, Cashier, Bus driver, Roofer, Line cook, Cashier, and Loan Officer, and few others. However, some people never thought that their jobs could be under risks because of AI, and the think that automation could only affect unskilled laborers which are a gross miscalculation. Talking to guardian one journalist said: "I spend all my time reading about how automation and AI are going to take all our jobs - now it's taken mine." (Guardian, 2020)
A study from the University of Oxford and McKinsey Global Institute predicted that shortly there will be more automation and most of the workers will lose their jobs due to the advances in robotics and AI. However, humans have always been adapted to change and adjust themselves to new areas where their skills and capabilities are needed. Therefore, it is very important to familiarize oneself with robotics and Data science, even if you do not belong to this career or profession. Knowledge about AI has become the needs of today.
